Key findings
- Only 14% of employees consistently achieve net-positive outcomes from AI use
- 37% of time saved through AI is offset by rework
- For every 10 hours of efficiency gained, nearly 4 hours are lost fixing AI output
- Highly engaged employees lose an average of 1.5 weeks per year fixing AI outputs
- 87% of employees use AI at least a few times a week and 46% use it daily
- 77% report being more productive due to AI over the past 12 months
- 85% personally save between one and seven hours per week using AI
- 66% of leaders cite skills training as a top investment priority, but among heavy AI users, only 37% report increased access to training.
- Employees aged 25-34 account for 46% of those experiencing the highest levels of AI-related rework and HR professionals represent 38% of employees experiencing the highest rework levels
- Organisations allocate 39% of AI cost savings to technology and infrastructure versus 30% to workforce development.
What to act on
The report shows that AI adoption by employees is widespread but AI output is a work challenge. Fixing the ‘rework’ issue is a priority. That said, workers are saving up to seven hours a week using AI tools. Training in AI skills needs to be more accessible to workers.
