How did you come to work in corporate learning?

By a slow and tortuous process starting with doing consultancy into corporate learning and then moving into corporate learning and working with consultants!

What was it about corporate learning that interested/appealed to you?

The power to change an organization through people.

What or who has helped you develop your career in learning and why?

That is a good question! No one specifically, mainly through contacts across organizations, thought leaders, etc. Lots of people have influenced me.

What are the biggest challenges facing L&D right now?

One huge one: AI. How to get an entire workforce up to speed.

What frustrates you most about being a learning professional?

Lack of business credibility.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

Seeing people happier and more productive: putting meaning back into work.

What are you most proud of in your working career and why?

Surviving the slings and arrows!

What three words best describe you?

Engaged, empathetic and authentic.

In the spirit of paying it forward, what advice would you give to L&D professionals looking to have a positive impact in their organisation?

Do your fieldwork. Understand the underlying issue, not the superficial manifestations of the issue. Stand your ground; be a player. Change the world.
